If you're pricing out seasonal snow removal in London, Ontario, the biggest factors are driveway size, how many visits are included, and whether walkways and salt are added. At Thames Valley Snow, a full season (December 1 to March 31, every snowfall of 5 cm or more) is $650 to $725 for a single or 1.5-car driveway, $815 for a double, and $1,050 for 3-car, paver or stamped driveways, all + HST.
Seasonal contracts are priced differently than pay-per-visit plans. A seasonal contract locks in one flat rate for the whole winter regardless of how much it snows, which protects you in a heavy season. Pay-per-visit costs less in a light winter but can add up fast during a stretch of back-to-back storms.
What changes the price
Driveway size and layout come first. Single-car driveways sit at the lower end, while double-wide, long or curved driveways take longer to clear safely and cost more. Surface matters too: pavers and stamped concrete need more careful work so the plow or blade doesn't catch an edge, which is why they sit in the higher tier.
The trigger depth is the other big factor. Our seasonal plans use a 5 cm trigger, which means a crew comes out for every snowfall of 5 cm or more. Lower triggers mean more visits and a higher price, while higher triggers save money but leave more snow on the ground before anyone arrives.
Add-ons and what they cost
Most homeowners start with the driveway and add only what they need. Our current add-ons are salt for $175 per season, sidewalk clearing for $90, a front walk plus up to 6 steps for $175, and pet-safe de-icer for $120. If you want service to continue past March 31, a season extension is +$95. Choosing only the add-ons you'll actually use is one of the easiest ways to keep the total down.
Seasonal plan vs. paying per visit
A per-visit plan is $70 per visit. That works well if you only want help after big storms. Over a full winter, though, a $650 seasonal plan equals roughly nine visits, so if London gets an average or heavy year, the seasonal plan usually comes out ahead and you never have to call to book.
How to compare quotes fairly
When you get quotes from different companies, check what's actually included: the trigger depth, the season dates, whether the end of the driveway (the City windrow) is cleared, and what salt or walkway work costs. Ask about insurance as well. We carry $2,000,000 in liability coverage and WSIB, and we'll provide a certificate of insurance on request.
Also ask how you'll know the job was done. After each visit we send timestamped photos, so you can see your driveway was cleared even if you're away. Before the season starts, we mark driveway edges so crews can work safely around lawns, gardens and curbs.
Discounts that can lower your cost
We offer a 5% discount for seniors and front-line workers. We're also a member of the London Property Management Association (LPMA), so property managers with several addresses can ask about quotes for multiple sites. Commercial lots are priced per site.
When to book
Booking before the first snowfall gives you the widest choice and gets your property onto a route before it fills. We send quotes within 2 business days, so you can compare and decide well before December.
Frequently asked questions
Is HST included in the seasonal price?
No. Our seasonal prices are listed before HST, so the tax is added to the total on your invoice.
What if it barely snows this winter?
A seasonal plan is a flat rate for the season, so the price stays the same in a light winter. That's the trade-off for knowing your cost up front and being covered in a heavy year.
