Why timing varies on a snow route
Every snow removal company works through a route. When snow stops overnight or falls through the early hours, crews start clearing as soon as it makes sense and work property by property. Someone has to be first and someone has to be later. For most households a cleared driveway by mid-morning is fine. For others, a driveway still blocked at 6 a.m. means a missed shift or a late start for the whole family.
How priority clearing works
With the priority early-morning add-on, your property is placed near the front of the route for overnight snowfalls. It is $125 plus HST for the season, on top of a seasonal plan. Everything else stays the same: automatic clearing at every 5 cm snowfall, return visits in long storms, the City windrow cleared, and a timestamped photo after each visit so you can see exactly when your driveway was done.
Priority does not change the weather. Heavy snow still falling at dawn may mean a first pass early and a return visit later, and very large storms can slow every route. What priority changes is where you sit in the order.
Who it suits best
- Early-shift workers, including healthcare, trades, transit and manufacturing staff who leave before sunrise.
- Parents with early school or daycare drop-offs.
- Commuters heading out of town, where a late start makes the whole drive harder.
- Home-based businesses with clients arriving early.
- Caregivers who need to reach someone else first thing.
Who may not need it
If you work from home, start late, or rarely need the car before mid-morning, the standard seasonal service is likely enough. Many people find the timestamped photos show their driveway is regularly cleared well before they need it. You can always add priority later in the fall if your schedule changes, as long as there is room on the route.
Combine it with other add-ons
Early drivers often pair priority clearing with seasonal salting, which at $175 plus HST includes freezing rain and refreeze visits, since icy mornings are the hardest to plan for. Front-line workers also receive 5% off seasonal plans.
How our seasonal service handles it
Our seasonal plans run from December 1 to March 31. Clearing is automatic every time 5 cm or more falls, so you never need to call or book a visit. In long storms we come back for return visits, and the City windrow at the end of your driveway is cleared as part of the service. Before the season starts we mark your edges, steps and drains so they can be found under snow. After every visit you get a timestamped photo. We are fully insured with $2,000,000 in liability coverage and registered with WSIB. Seasonal salting is available for $175 plus HST and includes freezing rain and refreeze visits, and seniors and front-line workers save 5% on seasonal plans. Prices are fixed for the season: single or 1.5-car driveways are $650 to $725, doubles are $815, and three-car, paver or stamped driveways are $1,050, all plus HST. We measure your property from City of London maps and aerial imagery and send a fixed quote within one business day. A 30% deposit reserves your spot, with the balance due before December 1.
