Snow Removal for Car Dealerships and Vehicle Display Lots

A dealership lot is full of vehicles that cannot be pushed aside, so snow service has to work carefully around inventory while keeping customers and the service bays moving.

A lot full of obstacles

Most commercial lots empty out overnight. A dealership does not. Rows of new and used vehicles sit tightly parked on the display lot, often bumper to bumper. A plow cannot clear between them, and nobody wants a blade anywhere near a car on the lot. At the same time, customers expect a clear path to the showroom, and the service department needs open lanes for drop-offs from early in the morning.

Separate the lot into zones

A good plan for a vehicle lot starts by dividing it into zones with different handling:

Each zone gets its own priority and method. Customer and service areas are usually first, cleared before opening, while inventory rows are handled with the dealership’s staff.

Coordinate with the lot staff

Dealerships often move vehicles after a storm anyway, to brush them off and present them. Agree with your contractor on how that works. For example, the crew opens drive aisles first, staff move a row of vehicles, and the crew clears the open space. Clear communication prevents damage and avoids snow being pushed under parked vehicles, where it freezes and is very hard to remove later.

Walkways and the service drive

Customers walking from parking to the showroom, and drivers walking from the service drive into the building, need clear and salted paths. Walkways, entrances and ramps should be hand-cleared and salted on every visit. Service drive lanes see a lot of slow turning traffic and can glaze over, so they may need extra salt. Our salting and ice control page explains how we handle high-traffic surfaces.

Piling where it will not hurt inventory

Space for piles is limited on a dealership lot, and nobody wants a pile in front of the display row facing the road. Agree on pile locations before the season, away from doors, drains and display frontage. If space runs out, discuss relocation options early. A timestamped photo log of each visit helps confirm that inventory areas were handled as agreed.

Getting the contract right

Because the method varies by zone, a written contract with a site plan is especially important. It should show which areas are machine-cleared, which are hand-cleared, the opening time for the showroom and service department, and how coordination with staff works. See our commercial snow removal page for what we include on every site.

Before the season starts, walk the lot with your contractor and the person who manages inventory. Point out curbs, islands, light pole bases and display ramps that can be hidden under snow, and stake them. Confirm where customer parking ends and inventory begins, since those lines often shift during the year. Agree on who to call when the crew arrives and finds vehicles parked in a drive aisle. These small details are what keep a dealership lot running smoothly through a long winter, and they make it much easier for the crew to work quickly and safely in the dark.

Dealerships with a separate used-car lot or overflow storage area should include those locations in the same plan, with their own priorities, so nothing is left until the following afternoon.

We measure each lot from City of London maps and aerial imagery and offer fixed seasonal, per-visit, or seasonal pricing with an event cap. Request a measured price through our quote form, or call or text (548) 888-8702. A written quote usually comes back within 2 business days.

What's included… and what's extra

Commercial snow service is priced per site from paved area, walkway length and opening time. A typical contract includes plowing at the agreed trigger depth, clearing before opening, hand-cleared entrances, sidewalks and ramps, and a timestamped photo log of every visit.

Common extras are quoted separately so you only pay for what the site needs: salting and de-icing per event, extra sidewalk or ramp coverage, after-hours or priority service, and snow relocation when piles run out of room. See commercial snow removal or request a site quote by calling or texting (548) 888-8702.
